Why Jesus heals?

1. Healing is the will of God

From the healing ministry of Jesus in the New Testament, one may ask: Why did Jesus heal ?
Jesus once said: 'I only do what I see from the Father in heaven "(John 5, 19).  It's the nature of God to heal the sick. God says in the old Testament, " I'm the God who heals you". Jesus heals because the Father in heaven heals.

In another occasion Jesus said: "For I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 6, 38). Because healing is God's will, according the the following vers in the Gospel, we know that Jesus healed all the sick. Compassion and sympathy are the nature of Jesus. He wants the people healthy.

MT14, 14: and he had compassion on them and healed their diseases.
Mt.15, 32: And Jesus called his disciples to him and said, I am full of pity for the crowd, because they've now stayed with me three days and have nothing to eat, and I do not want to dismiss them without food, so they may faint on the way.

2. Diseases are the works of Satan

Healing demonstrates the victory over Satan. In
Luk.13, 16 the woman has been oppressed by Satan for 18 years and be set free from Jesus.  According to 1.Joh.3:8, the reason that the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

3. Healing is a sign of forgiveness

Jesus told the paralyzed man on the bed, (MT9, Lk5 )
"Your sins are forgiven thee"
This wonderful promise was exactly what the paralytic needed. Anyone who hears this reassurance from the highest authority, may receive great joy and freedom. " Blessed is he whose debt is forgiven and the Lord does not impute sin" (Ps 32,1.2). When healing taking place is always a sign that the sins are forgiven.

4. Jesus teaches us about faith through healing

Very often, even in almost all cases, the healing depends on the faith. Jesus said many times , "Your faith has healed you" "Your faith has saved you" "so great a faith, I have not found in Israel!" "Oh, woman, great is your faith ..." and he asked the sick "Do you believe that I can do it? "

In these cases, the result was more than just physical healing, because all these sick people had strong faith. They were not only cured, but they also found a new relationship with God. Where Jesus were accepted as the sent savior, there would be repentance and freedom. Jesus brings not only healing, but also a a restored relationship with God. Healing can serve as a sign that comes from faith.

We can also find some different cases, like the paralytic carried by four men to Jesus, or the blind man who was led by a friend to Jesus. We find out that physical healings were taken place even though that the sick themselves may not have strong faith,  but it requires one or more intercessors who pray consistently for the sick.

Healing can be prevented  from the atmosphere of unbelieving. For example, Jesus in the town of Nazareth. Dismissive disbelief in the environment may limit the effectiveness of  healing. Jesus will not heal if there is disbelief. The Pharisees wanted to see miracles (MT12, 38), Herod demanded a miracle from Jesus( LK23, 9) which he did not get it. The atmosphere in a community, or in a city, even in a country may affect the ministry of healing.

Summary

From the healing ministry of Jesus in the New Testament we can see the nature and character of Jesus, full of love, full of grace and mercy, full of compassion. The weak, the sick, the oppressed and the poor were not neglected. He wants to heal, He can heal, and He heals the sick. This is our assurance.

Jesus demands that we believe in Him, He sometimes proofs our faith through healing.Healing is sometimes a trial process, not give up until we see them taking place. It is not true that God wants to heal one and other remains ill. God wants to heal all - without exception.

Matthew remembered the ancient prophecy of Isaiah and proclaimed the divine healing in the New Testament for us: "He took our infirmities and carried away our diseases from us" (Isaiah 53: 4).

The people around us do not have to stay sick, and neither do we. There is a doctor who makes all healthy - Jesus! Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever! He has not changed and His action, would not (Hebrews 13:8).
